I am only a beginner ?- Build and experience some of the basic techniques of painting, colour mixing , learn composition and gain confidence in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

I am an experienced painter ?- Develop your ideas within a stimulating environment, improve your skills in different artistic areas and enjoy conversations with like minded people. We are very flexible in our approach and through discussion we can plan a framework which will meet your needs.

How much does it cost ?- We charge £795 (2011) and £825 per person (2012), fully inclusive for a 6 day painting holiday. And if you bring a non-painting friend or partner and share a room, the non-painting partner only pays £495-2011 or £525-2012.

Is there any flexibility on dates ?- Although your residential painting holiday normally runs Saturday-Saturday, we understand that you can sometimes save a considerable amount on flights by being flexible on dates. We run a "Day Either Way" policy. If you have any questions about this, just email or call Ainsley on 00 33 55 38 24 390 he will be pleased to hear from you.

How much time do I get with the teacher? - There is 5 hours per day tuition available. With a maximum of 6 students on a course, it leaves plenty of time for one-to-one discussions. If you prefer to "do your own thing" with only occasional advice that's fine to.

Can I give a course as a gift? - Yes, we have had a lot of success with painting holidays as special gifts. Sometimes accompanied by a non-painting partner, sometimes as a complete surprise, traveling alone and only finding out their destination as they open their birthday envelope on the flight. Arrangements can be made for collection at the airport and celebration champagne when they arrive to start their adventure.(more..)

What about a deposit? - Once your booking has been confirmed you will be asked to pay a £200 per person deposit to secure the holiday.

Do I pay in pounds or euros? - We can accept payments in sterling or euros.

Where are you located? - We are based in a 17th century farmhouse in a rural french village called, Saint Severin d'Estissac. The village is in the South West of France. (more...).

What art materials do I need to bring with me? - Your personal painting materials. We do have a small art shop in the studio where you can buy basic painting and drawing materials. Please speak to us in advance if there are special materials you would like us to order before your arrival.(Specialist art stockist are not around every corner in France - its a half-day outing).

Do I need to bring towels? - We provide shower towels, hand towels and soap.

Are transfers included? - Transport pick-up points are Bergerac airport and Mussidan or Bergerac train station. People arriving at Bordeaux airport should make their way to Bergerac or Mussidan train station, for onward transport to “L’Atelier des Arts”.

My partner / friend does not paint? - Not a problem. Non painting partners are always welcome. There are a wide range of activities in the area including beautiful villages and towns, golf, walking, riding (more....)

I am a vegetarian? - Special diets can be catered for, but may be subject to a small supplement. Arrangements will be made after the initial booking.
